I developed this terrible involuntary twitching in my eye when I saw promotions for "60 Minutes" and their feature story on Charlie Weis. I get this feeling when a big time news program latches onto the Irish for a story, because it almost invariably turns into a hack job and a countdown until the first reference of the phrase "tarnished dome". That's why I was shocked and surprised by the incredibly reverent treatment Weis got in his piece. The entire story was basically an unabashed worshipping of Weis, and stayed positive right through the end, even as I was anxiously waiting for the other shoe to drop and some sidelong comment about implicit racism or selling your soul for football glory came out.
Anyway, you can watch the bit online at the 60 Minutes site (the "Miked Up" section is so unspeakably awesome that it will completely change your life, or at least how you use profanity). If you're still hankering for some more "old people television", then you can check out Andy Rooney's (*note, not the real Andy Rooney, the fake one that I made up for satire purposes) op-ed on college football.
